The Catch-Up Numeracy program, which was introduced in 2021 as a response to the negative repercussions of the Pandemic on learning, has now served its purpose and will be discontinued at the end of 2023.
As discussed with some schools, the SiMERR Research Team had an initial plan to re-develop and rebrand the Catch-Up program this year. It was ultimately decided that, as the program covered the same student cohort (the bottom 30 – 50%) as the soon-to-be-released QuickSmart Online Numeracy (QSO) program, only one of those programs would be required going forward and the decision was made to continue the development of QSO.
In an exciting turn of events, however, the initial re-development of Catch-Up laid the groundwork for a brand-new QuickSmart program, the contents of which have been requested by schools many times over the past few years. The extensive program, tentatively called QuickSmart Numeracy Plus, will be developed over 2023 and 2024 and will be released as a trial to volunteering schools in the latter half of 2024. It will then be expected to be available for purchase in early 2025.
We would like to thank all schools that took up the Catch-Up Program over the past three years, and would like to assure them that we will continue to fully support the program, including FABS licence renewals and additional staff professional development. Details of these will be sent to all Catch-Up Numeracy schools later this year.
